Our choir offers a range of benefits beyond just singing. It's a wonderful way to boost your mental and physical well-being. Singing helps reduce stress, improve breathing, and enhance mood, all while connecting with others who share your passion. The camaraderie we build is just as important as the music itself, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual support.

OUR HISTORY

Tonyrefail Ladies Choir was founded in 1989 by the late Rosemary Ashman. Its core values are supporting charities and bringing the enjoyment of music to hospitals, churches, and the elderly. The choir still operates with these core values and is keen to be visible within the community whenever possible.

 

The choir’s success over the years includes winning first place at its first competitive performance at Porthcawl Miners Eisteddfod and taking second place in the North Wales Choral Festival in 2010.

Taking the music of the Valleys further afield has been a vital part of the choir’s success, with the choir visiting many locations including Germany, Ireland, France, Scotland and London. The choir has sung alongside other notable choral groups

to perform on the rugby field in Cardiff.

This year, we have been proud to participate in a number of fundraising events in 2024, including a concert to raise funds for the National Eisteddfod held in Ynysangharad Park Pontypridd, along with the Rhythm of Life Concert held in Barry
in aid of Llamau and Barry Ministry area.
